Public care runs through Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City and regional hospitals, with limited capacity; most foreign residents use private clinics or cross into Mexico (Chetumal) for anything significant. International insurance with evacuation cover is standard.

A valid foreign licence is accepted for the first three months; residents then obtain a Belizean licence through the Transport Department, generally with a written and practical test. Belize drives on the right, and English is the official language, which removes most of the paperwork friction found elsewhere in Central America.
