Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. What expatriates.ai is
expatriates.ai ("we," "us," the "Service") publishes free tools and reference information to help people research moving and living abroad — visa and residency routes, cost of living, banking, money transfers, health insurance, healthcare systems, and US expat taxes. Everything here is general information and self-serve software. By accessing the Service you agree to these Terms.
2. Not professional advice; no professional relationship
The Service is information only. It is not, and must not be relied on as, legal, immigration, tax, accounting, financial, investment, insurance, or medical advice, and using it does not create any attorney–client, tax-preparer, adviser–client, or other professional relationship between you and us.
Immigration, tax, financial, insurance, and healthcare rules are complex, change often, vary by your specific situation and country, and turn on facts we don't know. Our tools match, estimate, and organize public information — they do not make a legal determination about your eligibility, your tax position, or what you should do. Any result, match, ranking, figure, or "you may qualify" indication is a starting point for your own research, not a conclusion you can rely on. Always confirm with the official government source and, for anything consequential, a licensed professional (immigration attorney, tax adviser, financial adviser, or doctor) before you act.
3. The US tax tools
Our US-tax features are self-preparation software. You are the preparer of your own return and are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for reviewing, signing, and filing your own return and certifications. We are not a CPA or law firm, we do not provide tax advice, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the IRS or any government agency.
The IRS Streamlined procedures require you to certify, under penalties of perjury, that your failure to file was non-willful. That determination and certification are yours — the Service provides information to help you understand the standard but never decides for you whether your conduct was willful or whether you qualify. If you have any doubt, significant unreported balances, or prior IRS contact, consult a qualified tax attorney before filing.
4. Accuracy and "as is"
We work hard to keep the information current and compile it with AI assistance from public and official sources, but we do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, or up to date. Figures are often USD-equivalents that move with exchange rates and annual resets, programs open and close, and rules change. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, expatriates.ai and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the Service, your dealings with any third party, or any decision you make about moving, filing, banking, insurance, or healthcare. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service (if any) or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
6. Third-party links, providers, and how we make money
The Service links to third-party websites, government pages, and product providers (banks, transfer services, insurers, relocation and immigration specialists). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, products, terms, or privacy practices — your dealings with them are between you and them.
The tools are free. We may earn a referral fee when we connect you with a relocation or immigration specialist, and some banking, transfer, or insurance partners may pay us a commission if you sign up through our links. This never changes what we show you or the order we show it in, and the official source sits next to every requirement so you can always check us. See our How we make money section for details.
7. Acceptable use
Use the Service for your own lawful, personal research. Don't scrape or copy it at scale, misrepresent it, use it to break the law, or interfere with its operation or security.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect (a minimal amount — mainly your email if you choose to give it) and how we handle it. We sell nothing and we never sell your data.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; your continued use after a change means you accept it.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and you and we waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.
